Leave a legacy to change young people’s lives

Since Spear began in 2003, we’ve worked with over 11,500 unemployed young people across the UK, thanks to the generosity of our supporters.

We work with those aged 16-24 facing some of the biggest barriers to employment, such as poverty, mental health challenges and low qualifications.

They graduate from the programme equipped with the skills and mindset not just to get a job, but to thrive: over 70% of those who complete the programme get into work or study and are still there a year later.

Government research ranks the Spear Programme as one of the UK’s most effective youth employment programmes.

In supporting Spear, you’re supporting young people to find a proven route to a better life.

Hear below from former trainee La’Seye and the Spear Programme gave her the tools to change her life.

“Spear gave me a way forward, and another chance. It gave me a reason to show up… for myself and my future.”

How to set up your legacy

Drop Pip or Rachel a line to ask us a question or to specify how you’d like your legacy gift to be used. If you decide to leave Spear a legacy gift, we’d be grateful if you could let us know so we can keep a record.

Making or updating a will is simple and doesn’t need to be expensive. We recommend using a solicitor or qualified will writer. They will ask if you would like to make:

  • A residuary gift or a percentage of your estate
  • A pecuniary gift of a fixed amount or
  • A specific gift such as an item or possession

You will also need our address and charity number, provided below.

Spear is operated by the charity Resurgo Trust, which is the name to use in any legal document.

Resurgo Trust, 3rd Floor, Colet Court 100 Hammersmith Road London W6 7JP

Charity number: 1100885

If you’d like to specify how your gift will be used, please contact a member of our team, who would be delighted to discuss this further.

“I have witnessed the true impact of the programme on the lives of the young people… There is a visible and very moving transformation of the hopes, outlook and sense of self-esteem for these young people, as they transition into employment or further education… As a result, I have decided I wish to help (Spear) long after I am no longer able to be individually involved and I have included them as one of the key beneficiaries in my will. I am more than pleased to do so.”
